Crabgrass in FL
Crabgrass in FL
Hi C.J., Thanks for the great videos. I live in Orlando, FL where it is warm most of the year. It is mid Dec and the temp is still in the 70's, but cold fronts do have the temp to fall into the 30's sometime during the winter.
I have a new home/lawn and new to trying to keep a yard looking it's best. Sod was laid in Oct, 2008. I have had a couple of lawn pros to stop by trying to get my business as you would imagine with a new lawn. One told my wife we have some crabgrass which brought this to my mind. Not exactly sure if we do have a prob or not as I am not exactly sure what crabgrass looks like aside from what internet photos show.
I have St. Aug in the front yard and Bahia in the backyard. If possible, please inform me of a good prevention item and schedule for crabgrass prevention/termination for my region of the country. I found "ATRAZINE Weed Killer for St. Augustine Grass" that is said to be safe for St. Augustine grass. Not sure if it is safe for Bahia.
I understand from your video that a preventer should be put down before the seeds become active and that crabgrass loves HOT weather. I've read that Crabgrass problems can start ANY time of year the soil temperature is a constant 50 degrees or above, so I'm sure I fall into that category.
I really appreciate any help or advice that you can give.
Keep up the great videos. Very informative.
