Doggie Wee Wee on SoCal Lawn

Help! I live in Southern California. Just put in a new Marathon lawn and my dog's urine has killed most of it. What type of lawn can I plant that can withstand urine? Hi Anonymous, Carpet. Okay, so perhaps I could be a little more helpful, huh? Truth be told, there’s not much you can do to make the dog urine stop killing the grass, and there are no species of grass that have shown really impressive results with urine tolerance. Regular watering of the lawn will help as it will dilute the concentration somewhat. Other than that, this is a matter of trying to train the dog to go somewhere else, OR designating an area and replacing the lawn with bark mulch. You can then really show the dog that THIS is where he needs to go if he’s going to be successful in begging for that slice of bacon in the morning.
