Grass between the pavers

Hi C.J.,
Thanks for your website about lawn care. I have a question for you: What do I do with the unwanted grass that grows beyond its boundary into the crevices between my concrete pavers? It's really tough to get them out, and I don't want to use weed killer (does it even work?) unless I absolutely need to. Any advice?

Hi Paul!

Thanks for writing in! I'm having a great time with this website, and I really enjoy answering questions like this one.

As to your issue, there is an all organic product called Burnout, but the effects are less than optimal. I think you'd be disappointed with the results. Then there's something called "Scythe". It's a reduced risk herbicide that's not truly organic, but is very low in toxicity yet pretty effective.

Herbicides DO work very well if they are used correctly. Unfortunately, many people don't take the time and effort to read the labels and measure and spray correctly. See if you can find some Scythe.

You'll have to be diligent, but you should be able to get it under control with 1 or 2 applications per month.

Thanks again for touching base!
